Sefton Council plants adverts in front of the war memorial gardens

The much 'lauded' concept of Localism and giving power and responsibility to local communities seems to be nothing more than 'window dressing' in the offices of Sefton.

What's possessed Sefton Council to desecrate the heart of our local village?

A brief retrospective glance at FormbyLive

The weekend came and went, the sun eventually came out on Sunday. The crowds materialised and the village was lively.

It was a good #FormbyLive Music Festival. A hearty 'well done' to everyone involved in the event. Here's a little reminder. Have a good week.

#FormbyLive Sunday Music Ramble

I always find it difficult to sit or stand still when someone's playing good music. Well for those of you similarly afflicted the #FormbyLive Music Festival organisers have arranged a 'Ramble'. Come and join in.

image from www.formby.todayJoin the "Live Music Ramble"
from 2.00pm to 7.00pm...

HOSTED BY: "Matthew Fearon"

We know what it's like when your planning to attend an event like ours. You look at the line-up and think to yourself, "I'd love to see them. They sound great" and then you find out that "they" are playing at the same time on another stage as another artist that you'd like to see.

So what we've done is set up a schedule for all our artists so that they rotate around all of the participating venues throughout Sunday afternoon between 2.00pm to 7.00pm.

That means you can move from venue to venue, (only a few 100 yards!), in order to see and hear all of the performers you may have on your "wish list"

United Utilities Issue Statement on Liverpool Road Closure

United Utilities have just published this statement about the Liverpool Road closure in Formby. It's clearly a complicated issue and the road is likely to be closed for some time.

United Utilities LogoMotorists are being advised a busy road in Formby could be closed for around a month while emergency repairs to a collapsed sewer take place.

United Utilities engineers will start work shortly on digging five metres underground to replace the large pipe which runs underneath Liverpool Road.

The road will be completely closed at its junction with Marina Road while the repair takes place. A clearly-signed diversion is in place, sending motorists down the Formby by-pass

An investigation has shown a 52cm diameter sewer has collapsed under the road, causing a depression in the road surface. An eight metre length of the pipe now needs to be replaced, before the hole is filled in and the road resurfaced.

Nicola Williams, United Utilities Network Manager, said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience or delays this emergency repair will cause people, but it’s important we carry out this work quickly and safely.

“It’s a challenging job, with the pipe so deep underground, and although it is difficult to give an accurate completion date at this early stage, the road could be closed for around a month.”

The road was closed earlier this week when the depression in the highway was spotted. There is no impact on customers’ wastewater services

Latest news about Liverpool Road Collapse

Sefton Council have issued this latest bulletin regarding the Liverpool Road collapse. It's clearly going to be quite inconvenient until the repairs are completed.

Update on Liverpool Road, Formby

United Utilities have now taken responsibility for repairs to a collapsed carriageway on Liverpool Road, Formby (B5424), which was closed yesterday.

Due to the nature of the work required, the road is now expected to be closed for several weeks.

A closure will remain in place at the Formby Bypass roundabout (A565) and Liverpool Road junction, with a diversion via Altcar Road.

Local access to Liverpool Road will be possible for residents only.
