Met Office Ice Warning

Widespread icy patches are expected to readily form on untreated surfaces this evening and during Saturday night, especially where snow cover exists or where wintry showers occur.

The public should take extra care and be aware of the possibility of some disruption to travel.

Yellow Warning of Snow

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of snow for the North West. 

Valid from: 1100 on Fri 26 Dec 2014: Valid to: 0600 on Sat 27 Dec 2014

An Screenshot_2014-12-26-09-56-38~2 area of rain, sleet and snow is expected to spread eastwards across parts of Northern Ireland, England and Wales during Boxing Day before clearing during the evening and overnight.

A lot of uncertainty surrounds how much snow will occur, but there is the risk of several centimetres even at low levels. As precipitation clears, roads could turn very icy.

The public should be aware of the potential for disruption from snow.
