Residents invited to have a ‘Big Chat’ at annual review

Health commissioners are inviting Southport and Formby residents to come to their ‘Annual Review meets Big Chat’ event on Tuesday 12 September.

Big Chat 2017For the third year running, NHS Southport and Formby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is combining its annual review meeting with a ‘Big Chat’ style event.

This will mean that residents can hear about the CCG’s performance and achievements over the past 12 months as well as being invited to give their views about the CCG’s latest work to shape services.

Dr Rob Caudwell, chair of the CCG, said:

“The format of this event has worked well the last couple of years and we would like as many people as possible to come along and talk about their local health services.

On the day there will be some short presentations with an opportunity for people to share their ideas on how we can further develop health services for local people.”

Copies of the CCG’s annual report and accounts for 2016 - 2017 will also be available for people to take away.

The event is being held from 2.30pm – 5.00pm at Lord Street West United Church, Southport, PR8 2BH. Tea and coffee will be served at 2.00pm.

Anyone who would like to come along is asked to confirm their attendance, along with any special requirements they may have, by calling 0151 247 7000 or by emailing southportandformby.ccg@nhs.net

Executive Medical Director excluded pending investigation

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust today excluded from work the Executive Medical Director

SanFHospitalThe exclusion follows an independent review of culture at the Trust led by Prof Surinder Sharma, of Leicester University. The Trust commissioned the review following concerns raised by staff with Care Quality Commission inspectors.

The Executive Medical Director will remain excluded while an independently-led preliminary situational analysis takes place in line with the Trust policy.

Exclusion from work is not a disciplinary sanction but is a neutral action pending the completion of a preliminary situational analysis.

Richard Fraser, Chairman of the Trust, said:

The Trust expects the preliminary situational analysis to be completed promptly while, at the same time, ensuring the best interests of all parties are fairly served.
I want to assure staff, patients, their families and the public that no aspect of the concerns raised relates to issues of patient care or safety.
As this is an employment matter, there will be no further comment from the Trust while the preliminary situational analysis takes place.

The Trust will confirm tomorrow (Tuesday) the interim Executive Medical Director and Responsible Officer arrangements.

Public welcome at September NHS CCG Meeting

Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in Sefton are encouraging anyone with an interest to go along to their September governing body meetings.

Southport & Formby CCGThe CCGs’ hold their governing body meetings every two months in public, so people can hear them discussing and making decisions about local health services.

Doctors, nurses and other health professionals who make up the committees will discuss a range of issues including the performance of the services they commission, like hospitals and community care.

Rob Caudwell, local GP and NHS Southport and Formby CCG chair, said:

We invite the public along to this formal meeting to listen to the CCG’s plans. Residents also get the chance to ask any questions they have before the meeting gets underway.

The meetings are a great chance for people to meet our health professionals and our governing body members. It’s also a good chance for us to meet some of our public and we welcome their views and questions as always

The NHS Southport and Formby CCG meeting will take place on Wednesday 6 September at the Family Life Centre, Ash St, Southport, Merseyside, PR8 6JH, at an earlier start time than usual of 12pm. Papers will be available here beforehand.

Anyone who is interested in attending is asked to call 0151 247 7000 to confirm their attendance.
