The Sefton Art Group Exhibition will be open tonight from 7.00pm at Cafe D'Art
The Sefton Art group are a very active group of artists, made up by people throughout the Sefton region and probably the biggest group that meet weekly to engage in art, art classes and art activites and much more.
They are always welcoming to new members or anyone who is thinking of taking up art lessons and would like to come along and visit their of our several weekly classes, held at Hightown, Lydiate, Southport and Maghull, with a life drawing class in Liverpool.
As well as offering art classes to all abilities they encourge members to exhibit their work, and put on our own art exhibitions. Most of their members enjoyed art when at school, but never had the opportunity to follow it up, because life took over, then, with more time on their hands they decided to finally take it up.
It offers members the opportunity to engage more fully in the local art scene, also the opportunity to expose their work to local people, and to sell! They also arrange visits to local art galleries, as well as further afield, like London.
As your way of celebrating this event, why not visit the Edible Formby Project Garden in the grounds of Formby Swimming Pool.
The projects seeks to focus on an existing and growing interest in 'growing your own' to reskill young and old alike. A demonstration plot is showing examples of small-scale but efficient ways of growing food in a small space. The team are always there on a Wednesday morning from 10.30am. come and say 'hello'.
We provide advice and support for local and other residents who want to grow food in their own gardens. The group hopes to establish small neighbourhood groups throughout Formby to promote food growing.
Finally the project intends to stimulate an increased awareness of the benefits of healthy eating and to promote local food production and consumption.
