It was pleasing to see the Leader of Sefton Council use 'twitter' during a recent meeting at Southport Town Hall. Our local politicians are gradually adopting social media to give us an account of their activity.
Councillor Peter Dowd was commenting at the point in the meeting when Councillors get the opportunity to debate 'Notices of Motion'. These are submitted to the Council by individual members and are a chance for any back-bench Councillor to raise, debate and seek the support of the full Council.
Seeing the photograph brought my memories of serving as a member of Sefton Council in the years 1980 - 87. On several occasions in my time the public gallery was full. For your information I sat at the front in the right hand side of the seats facing to the left.
Excellent debate in Council at Southport tonight about trolling & cyber bullying! pic.twitter.com/VhMwr0aKU0— Peter Dowd (@Peter_Dowd) November 21, 2013
