Formbyfirst has started another Twitter account, specifically to feature short messages about stories and events happening in Formby Village. Anyone who has a Twitter account can add their own messages simply by adding the following hashtag to their Tweeps: #FormbyVillage

I have often commented on those local businesses or organisations that combine traditional business practices with the newer Internet based tools. This looks like a very useful opportunity.

I'm delighted to see that Sefton MBC have opened a 'Twitter' account. Many local authorities including Walsall and Greater Manchester Police have also done the same.
Walsall MBC has famously 'Twittered' for 24 hours about all their activities and contacts with the public.
It was a highly admired example of a local Council using New Media to give an account of it's work to the residents of Walsall. I look forward to a similar event locally - Go on Sefton, give it a try.

I've been writing this blog and it's predecessers for a number of years. I was delighted when I discovered similarly minded people in 2009. There were about 50 in the UK who designated themselves as 'hyper-bloggers'.
In 2009 many met for the first time at Stoke and spent a superb day sharing their experiences.
Here's the short introductory video clip made on that day featuring one of the leading lights of the movement, Will Perrin.
I'm pleased to say I will be in Cardiff tomorrow for TAL11, which is the third such annual occasion. Promises to be very good.

With the onset of winter I thought residents might like to know that in addition to a direct phone call you can also contact Sefton MBC Online about issues that concern you. For instance there are 4 grit boxes in Formby and I have just used them to notify Sefton that the box outside the Grapes public house is empty.
