20mph Area For The Whole Of Formby

There's been an interesting exchange on Twitter about the proposed 20mph speed limit in Formby. A closer examination of these and the references shows that the original scheme in the Piecefield Road area is to be extended.

All roads in Formby except Liv Rd, Altcar Rd, Church Rd and Southport Rd to be made 20mph - good for safety and the environment

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation Fundraising Group

Lauren Jones the fundraising assistant at Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation writes:

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only charity dedicated to the defeat of lung cancer through research, support and helping people to quit smoking. We give help and hope to those affected by lung cancer across the UK. Lung cancer is the most common cancer in the World and the biggest cancer killer in the UK.

The charity has a 5 year plan to expand over the UK and as part of this we are setting up a number of community fundraising groups; the first of which will be in Formby.

She has asked me to publish the following and I'm very happy to do so on her behalf.

Community Fundraising Group

The Fundraising group will be responsible for organising approximately four fundraising events throughout the year to raise vital funds for the charity. The group gives members the chance to make new friends, give back to the community and raise awareness and money for a serious issue in a fun and friendly manner.

The Roy Castle Community Fundraisers will provide volunteers with all of the materials needed along with support and guidance.  

I am sure you agree this is a great opportunity for likeminded individuals in Formby and the surrounding areas to meet, raise awareness and have fun!

Community Quiz Night

Get your thinking caps on for our fun Formby quiz night for a chance to win some great prizes. There will be multiple rounds along with a raffle and a chance to learn more about our Formby Community Fundraising Group.

Castle Coffee Morning

Sample Formby Pool Café’s tasty tea, coffee and cakes and relax with friends at our Castle Coffee Morning. There is a chance to win some great prizes at our raffle and see what work we do in the local community.

When: Wednesday 26th June 2013 from 11am until 1pm
Just £2 per person for a drink and cake, all proceeds go to the charity.

Formby Green Belt Discussion Begins New Phase

Formby Green Belt and Housing Debate

Sefton Council commences the next phase of it's deliberations about the future of the Green Belt and other parcels of land in Formby on Tuesday 28 May.

At the meeting (6.30pm start)  in Bootle Town Hall the Overview and Scrutiny Committee (Regeneration and Environmental Services) will consider the officers reports.

The recommendation from the officers is:

That Overview and Scrutiny note the content approach and conclusions of the Preferred Option Document and provide comment on it.
