The annual Viking festival, organised by the Fornebei Herfolk, now in its 3rd year, will be returning to Fornebei this weekend and will take place at the Gild Hall, Church Road running from 10 am till 5 pm.
Making an appearance in addition to a range of displays and presentations will be:
- Viking and Medieval traders
- Craft makers
- Birds of prey
- Viking ships
- Medieval dance, knights, combat and living history
Once again their will be an opportunity to take part in the Thor's Hammer Challenge (Viking Chess) and play against former national and world Hnefatafl champions.
And for the first time we will also be demonstrating and playing "Kubb" another Viking game that is a cross between skittles, boules and horseshoes. Its an ancient game, sometimes referred to as "Viking Chess" but with a big difference to normal chess as it is very much a throwing game that tests your eye and hand coordination.
Here are some images to whet your appetite.
