Enjoy your Easter Break

The sun is shining, there's no wind to speak of and the weather forecast is good. Let's hope it stays this way.

I hope you all have a good weekend and Bank Holiday. I'm planning to take a few days away from the screen.

Bluebells Galore

Bluebells 2
“A fine and subtle spirit dwells
In every little flower,
Each one its own sweet feeling breathes
With more or less of power. “

(Opening lines of a poem by Anne Bronte celebrating ‘The Bluebell’)

I can still recall a childhood memory of walking through a vast, seemingly, everlasting bluebell wood. It was sunny, and my parents had decided on a ‘Mystery Trip’ one Sunday afternoon.

I’m sorry to say we picked armfuls of the flowers to fill vases on getting home. Nowadays, and rightly so, you can look, but not touch or pick.

What started this line of thinking was a small valiant patch of bluebells I spotted thrusting outwards from beneath an adjacent garden fence while walking the footpath from Green lane towards Paradise Lane........

The Atkinson Bank Holiday Times

Given the weather why not venture into Formby Village, meet up with friends and enjoy a coffee or drink.

It's time for a spot of Easter conviviality, don't you think?

Climate change really ought to be addressed now

Climate Change may seem to be far removed from Formby, but we will experience the effects as much as the rest of the planet.

My questions: ‘What can I do?’, ‘What should our local Councillors be doing?’,

The NHS in Sefton is changing and it needs your help

NhssurveySefton residents are being asked for their views about how local services could be improved. They will also be asked to share their ideas on how people can live healthier lives and what improvements they think could be made to help people access services quickly.

With growing pressure on the NHS – people living longer, more people living with long-term conditions, and lifestyle choices affecting people’s health – changes are needed to make sure everybody gets the support they need.

Share your views via the ‘what would you do?’ online surveys here and help make care better.

St George and the Dragon 2

Fire crews have been called to a large fire at Formby woods.

Crews were alerted at 2.41pm and were delayed by heavy traffic in the area.

5 fire engines are in attendance at a fire of approximately 1000 square metres involving pine trees located at Formby Golf club. Firefighters are locating water sources and liasing with national trust rangers and golf club staff.

The incident is ongoing.

UPDATE 7.30PM

Fire crews have greatly reduced the intensity and spread of the fire using beaters, axes, hoses and shovels in extremely hot conditions.

Please be aware.

On high days and holidays, whenever the weather is good, there are always major issues with car parking and access to the beach in Formby. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment and park your vehicle so as not to cause inconvenience to local residents or pedestrians.

Is Formby being overwhelmed by visitors?
