This local hyperblog website is owned and maintained by Sean Brady, who has lived in Formby since 1972.

He writes:

I was a member of Little Altcar Parish Council and I'm also a former member of both Sefton MBC and Formby Parish Councils.

I'm a retired HE lecturer with a career long interest in New Media and Educational Technology but maintain an abiding interest in Social Media as a means of sustaining and building local communities.

In my earlier working life I was employed in Civil Engineering (BR) and Telephone Engineering (GPO).

I write a hyperlocal blog at Formby Blog, which is also known as Formby Today and and run a daily companion Twitter account Formby Blog @formbyvillage

These platforms feature links and short and long topical stories about Formby as a place and a community.

More changes on the blog

I've added some more links to the 'navigation bar'. These reflect some changes in the topics/categories section.

I've made these changes because I've realised that visitors to the blog come for many different reasons and often arrive on pages that are no longer displayed on the 'home page'.

In some respects I am essentially giving up on the notion of a 'home page'. In future stories are quite likely to be published first in the category sections of the site. They will be linked to directly by twitter at the point when they are published.

Changes to the Blog

Just altered a couple of the navigation links to take advantage of the 'categories' label and a minor adjustment to control what appears in the main blog section.

Works well, there is now an 'Editor's Notes' post section and I've also incorporated the latest video and audio recordings into the body of the blog.
